F1 update – US GP
Round 19 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship was held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas for the United States Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen continued his good run of form by taking his fifth win of the year finished ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris who finished second with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completing the podium in third.
US GP – top 5:
- 1st: Max Verstappen – Red Bull
- 2nd: Lando Norris – McLaren
- 3rd: Charles Leclerc – Ferrari
- 4th: Sir Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari
- 5th: Oscar Piastri – McLaren
Other highlights:
- Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg showed good pace all weekend to finish eighth.
- Haas scored points at home thanks to Oliver Bearman who finished in ninth.
- Williams’s Carlos Sainz was the only retirement in the race on lap 6 after colliding with Mercedes driver Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli, the latter would finish the race in thirteenth.
News:
- Red Bull were given a $50,000 fine for a team personnel attempting to remove the tape on the grid of where Lando Norris’s McLaren was starting the race from.
- Williams’s Carlos Sainz has been given a 5 place grid penalty for colliding with Mercedes driver Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli for the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.
- The United States Grand Prix will continue to be held at The Circuit of the Americas until 2034 after the organisers agreed a new deal with the bosses of Formula 1.
- Tech giant Apple will broadcast F1 races in the US from 2026 for 5 years.
- Mercedes have retained the services of their current driver pairing of George Russell and Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli for 2026.
The next round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will be held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City, Mexico for the Mexican Grand Prix on 24th to 26th October.
