Former Blue Peter presenters reunite to help nation’s parents with ‘teen talks’

New research out today shows over half (56%) of parents with teenagers find it hard to keep up with their child’s interests, as they feel out of touch with the world of TikTok, influencers and gamers.

The new Talking Futures survey of 2000 parents with teens shows that two-thirds (64%) find it easier to have tricky discussions with them when they’re occupied with another activity.

Among the top pursuits that encourage conversation between parent and child include cooking or baking (52%), walking the dog (39%) and arts and crafts (26%).

The campaign – run by the charitable organisation the Gatsby Foundation – partnered with the presenters on the back of the research, which suggests that Blue Peter was one of the most loved programmes by parents growing up, only coming behind Top of the Pops and Grange Hill.

Aston spoke to TV presenters Konnie Huq and Simon Thomas.
