Motorsport update – 18th January

Here’s the latest news from motorsport in the last week.

F1:

• Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc tested positive for Covid-19 last week and is currently in self isolation at home in Monaco,
• The Australian GP will be postponed due to stringent Covid-19 hotel quarantine measures in Melbourne which is also affecting the Australian Open Tennis. (Arrivals into Australia have to undergo a two week hotel quarantine to slow the spread of Covid-19),
• Imola returns to the 2021 calendar for the second year running.

BTCC:

• Jade Edwards will join BTC Racing for 2021 for a full season. Edwards will drive the Honda Civic Type R and she will be partnered at the team with Josh Cook and The Clever Baggers with BTC Racing’s Micheal Crees.
• Tom Chilton moves from BTC Racing to Ciceley Motorsport for 2021 driving a BMW 3 Series M Sport alongside retained driver, Adam Morgan.
• Chris Smilley will remain with Excelr8 Motorsport for 2021 albiet under the Excelr8 Trade Price Cars team name.
