Motorsport update -1st February

Hello motorsport fans. Here are the biggest stories from the world of motorsport in the last week.

F1

• F1 Alpha Tauri Driver, Pierre Gasly has tested positive for Covid-19. Gasly, who represents France in F1, will now self isolate in accordance with public health advice after the positive test result.
• Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is expected to sign a new contract with the team. Talks are still ongoing with team principal Toto Wolf and will announce any news on Hamilton’s contract in due course.
• Former F1 racing driver and team owner, Adrian Campos sadly passed away last week at the age of 60. Campos founded the Campos Racing team which competed in many different motorsport racing series. A huge loss for motorsport and our thoughts our with Adrian and his family after the emotional news last week.

BTCC:

• Rory Butcher will move from Motorbase to Toyota Gazzo Racing UK for 2021. Rory Butcher won the last race of the 2020 season at Brands Hatch Indy last year for Motorbase Performance. Butcher will be joined at Toyota Gazzo Racing UK by ex British GT racing driver, Sam Smelt in 2021 as the pair both will be using the Toyota Corolla for the 2021 season.
