Motorsport update – 2nd November

November has arrived as many motorsport events enter their final remaining races. Below is the latest news from the world of motorsport from the past week.

Nascar Cup Series:

Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway:

Top 5 Drivers:

  • 1st: Alex Bowman (Chevrolet)
  • 2nd: Kyle Busch (Toyota)
  • 3rd: Brad Keselowski (Ford)
  • 4th: Martin Truex Jr (Toyota)
  • 5th: William Byron (Chevrolet)

Highlights:

  • Alex Bowman (Chevrolet) won the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway despite late contact with Denny Hamlin (Toyota) during the closing stages of the race.
  • Chase Elliott (Chevrolet) also collided with Brad Keselowski (Ford) during the race.
  • Martin Truex Jr (Toyota) finished 4th despite hitting the wall late on and making contact with another driver late on.
  • Quinn Houff (Chevrolet) was demoted 5 Laps from the rest of the field after a crazy retaliation where he rammed Josh Blinki’s No 52 Chevrolet off the circuit.

Nascar Next Race: Season Finale 500 at Phoenix (7th November 2021)

F1 will return to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for Round 18 of the 2021 Championship as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen leads the drivers standings by 12 Points from Mercedes Lewis Hamilton going into the weekend. The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez first hosted the Mexican GP in 1962 and was also the sight of Honda’s first ever Grand Prix victory as a team and as an engine supplier in 1965. US racing driver Richie Ginther won the 1965 Mexican GP driving the Honda RA272. Second went the way of Dan Gurney in the Brabham Climax and third went to Mike Spence in the Lotus Climax.

The 2021 race will take place on the 7th November at 7pm. The 2021 Mexican GP marks the start of the final leg of the F1 2021 season.
