Motorsport update – 9th November

Below is the latest news from the world of motorsport which included the F1 Mexico City GP and the final meeting of the Nascar Cup Series at Phoneix for the Season Finale 500.

F1 Mexico City GP:

Top 5 Drivers:

  • 1st: Max Verstappen (Red Bull),
  • 2nd: Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes),
  • 3rd: Sergio Perez (Red Bull),
  • 4th: Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri),
  • 5th: Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)

Highlights:

  • Mercedes’s Valtteri Bottas endured a horrible race as he finished the race 15th following a first Lap collision with McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo as both drivers finished outside the points. Bottas did start the race on pole after qualifying 1st,
  • Alpha Tauri’s Yuki Tsunoda and Haas’s Mick Schumacher were the two drivers who retired following contact early on in the race with Alpine’s Esteban Ocon also getting involved in the carnage,
  • Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton finished 2nd after holding off the Red Bull of Sergio Perez.

Nascar Cup Series (Season Finale 500 At Phoneix),

  • 1st: Kyle Larson (Chevrolet)
  • 2nd: Martin Truex Jr (Toyota)
  • 3rd: Denny Hamlin (Toyota)
  • 4th: Ryan Blaney (Ford)
  • 5th: Chase Elliott (Chevrolet)

Huge congratulations to Kyle Larson of Hendrick Motorsports for winning the 2021 Nascar Cup Series title. BTCC:

  • Tom Chilton has announced his departure from Ciceley Motorsport as the team searches for a new driver for the 2022 season.

Indycar:

  • Italian-Candian driver, Devlin DeFranchesco will join Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport for the 2022 season as he moves to the Indycar Series from Indy Lights. DeFranchesco will drive the No 29 Honda which will contest a full season in the Championship.
