Free and open guide launched to help workforces with menopause
Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon opened up about her experience of menopause. She said this was to help tackle the stigma of the ‘intensely personal’ subject – and it made news across the nation. Which suggests we aren’t talking about it enough. But what about in the workplace?
According to new data from the Co-op, 52% of managers say they simply wouldn’t know where to begin when it comes to helping a member of staff who the menopause was affecting.
And this is proven – women who are either going through (or have gone through) menopause say that a lack of support at work has led them to suffer increased anxiety (38%), depression (28%) and lose all of their confidence (19%).
Aston spoke to Heather Jackson, co-founder of GenM.
