Gateway 97.8 live at the 98th Academy Awards

The 98th Academy Awards took place on Sunday 15th March at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA which was hosted by TV talk show legend Conan O’Brien.

The awards saw the film One Battle After Another recieve 6 Academy Awards which included a hat trick for Paul Thomas Anderson who won best director, best adapted screenplay and was also one of the producers for the film winning best picture, whilst Sean Penn won best supporting actor for his role in the film and the film won the first ever best casting award.

Sinners took home 4 awards which included actor Michael B. Jordan winning for best lead actor, whilst it made history in the best cinematography category as it’s cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first female cinematographer ever to win in that category.

Jessie Buckley took home best lead actress for her role in Hamnet, whilst Amy Madigan took home best supporting actress for her role in Weapons which also was a record for the longest gap between nominations from Amy’s first Academy Award nomination which was in 1985 for Twice in a Lifetime.

Frankenstein took home 3 awards for best production design, best make up and hairstyling and best costume design.

Netflix film K-Pop Demon Hunters won 2 awards for best animated feature film and best original song for their song Golden which became the first song in the K-Pop genre to win in the best original song category.

Other winners include F1 for best sound, Avatar: Fire & Ash for best visual effects and Sentimental Value from Norway for best film in a foreign langauge.
