Holidaymakers warned to be wary of travel scams

Families looking to book a bargain break in the Black Friday sales are being warned to be wary of scammers offering deals that are just too good to be true.

Despite the cost-of-living pressures, nearly half of consumers say they will be looking to splash out on a dream getaway for next year during this week’s Black Friday sales according to new research from the Civil Aviation Authority. This figure increases to almost two-thirds for the 18-34 age group.

Travel companies are increasingly advertising discounts on getaways during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. And with nearly three quarters of us now booking holidays online, the aviation regulator is warning that scammers will be looking to take advantage of those desperate to book a family holiday after years of covid disruptions.
