How Long Do You Spend On Your Mobile Phone?
It’s no secret that as a society, we’re increasingly reliant on our phones for everything from making payments to ordering our favourite takeaway, and staying in touch with friends, family and others. In fact, it seems many of us are addicted to our phones. Nearly 30% of us spend over 4 hours a day on our phones, and more than a fifth (22%) of 18-24-year-olds are watching, swiping, and tapping for more than 7 hours daily.
New research from HSBC UK highlights just how deeply attached we are to our phones. Nearly two-thirds (64%) admit they have felt some level of anxiety having left home without their phone. Almost 1 in 10 (9%) have more than 100 apps installed, whilst just over half (51%) have 50 or fewer. But it’s not all fun and games, music and dating apps, staying connected with each other and keeping an eye on our money appear to be the priorities.
The apps we prioritise include WhatsApp, which is favoured by 44% of users, followed by Facebook (17%) and Instagram (11%). Banking apps rank fourth (9%), ahead of entertainment, shopping, and food delivery apps.
