Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas on stag & hen parties abroad

If you thought Stag and Hen parties were all about wild nights and heavy drinking, think again! These pre-wedding bashes have had a major makeover. Gone are the days of excessive booze and “lad” antics; now, it’s all about unique and memorable experiences, especially when taken abroad.

Research from Wise, the international money app reveals that the average Hen or Stag party abroad now costs over £1,500 per person, covering £376 on travel, £362 on activities, £385 on accommodation, and £396 on food and drink. Clearly, people are willing to splash out for unforgettable experiences in more cultured settings.

The old days of heavy drinking and late-night partying are fading fast. Today, 31% of Brits planning Stag and Hen dos are all about live music events, making them the top choice. Spa days (26%), wine-tasting tours (23%), and theatre nights (22%) follow closely, showing a love for relaxation and cultural fun. Historical tours (21%), gourmet dining (19%), museum visits, and cooking classes are also popular, highlighting a trend towards cultural and educational activities. Even garden tours (13%), film festivals (12%), and craft workshops (12%) are making the list, showing a broadening of interests beyond just partying.
