Is the UK losing its neighbourly spirit?
As the clocks go back later this month, Brits are being urged to use the extra hour for good causes, as new research shows that we are losing our neighbourliness as a nation.
Data shows that a huge majority of people in the UK (84%) say society should be doing more to promote neighbourliness, and research shows that more than a third of people (35%) believe the UK has become less neighbourly in the past 20 years.
To mark the extra hour gained, a new national campaign, #TheExtraHour, is urging people across the UK to use that time to carry out a simple act of kindness in their community.
From this week, people across the UK are being asked to pledge their extra hour, with Neighbourly’s online community hub offering people the chance to see how others are getting involved across the country, and access simple, practical ideas for neighbourly action.
Aston spoke to Steve Butterworth, CEO of Neighbourly.
