Is Valentine’s Day the worst day to propose?
Brand new research from the UK’s number one wedding planning app Bridebook has found that Brits see Valentine’s Day as the worst day for a proposal. In fact, when presented with options including Christmas, New Year’s, and birthdays, Valentine’s Day received 60% of the vote as the most clichéd.
This is a slight concern, given that data suggests if an engagement is coming – and hasn’t already happened on Christmas Day – odds are it’ll happen on Valentines, with around 2.8% of engagements (15,000 people) happening on what’s supposed to be the most romantic day of the year.
With the end of “proposal season” just around the corner, we quickly enter “wedding planning season” – with August, May, and July the most popular months to tie the knot in 2025, and 2 in 5 couples choosing the summer for their big day.
