January burnout warning for small businesses ahead of self assessment deadline

We all know being a business owner can be hard work, but according to data released today, over two in three (68%) of sole traders agree they already feel burnt out, even though we’re just weeks into the New Year.

The data released by financial management software company Intuit QuickBooks also reveals 80% of sole traders had feelings of anxiety, stress, or worry about their business over the Christmas break, which led to over half (54%) being unable to fully ‘switch off’.

Furthermore, to add to the stress, there is another big worry – the looming January 31st Self-Assessment tax return deadline. Some, who started businesses in the latter part of the global COVID-19 Pandemic, will be filling out their return for the first time.

Aston spoke to accountant and author Rachel Harris and Pauline Green from Intuit QuickBooks.
