Jason Bradbury on 100 years of TV
It’s official, us Brits have been tuning into television for a century, and despite being the grand old age of 100, British television has still got viewers glued to the screen.
From grainy black-and-white monochrome broadcasts to ultra-sharp Quantum Dot displays, and a world of streaming giants, it is fair to say we’ve come a long way.
In a nation that once huddled around a relatively small screen to watch the moon landing and the Queen’s Coronation, today’s telly technology is more advanced than ever.
Despite our love of TV and the advanced technology we now have at our fingertips, with features like QLED, OLED, 4K and HDR now commonplace, nearly half (46%) of Brits admit they bought a TV without really understanding it, and according to research by Samsung a quarter confess to feeling “overwhelmed” by the choices today and feel a sense of “TV Tech Fatigue” before they even buy. Spending on average 1-2hrs to do their research on a purchase that can cost as much as a car!
