Leading charity pleads with Brits: “Don’t face debt alone!”

The Chancellor’s latest budget has confirmed that energy bill support will continue, alongside help to reduce childcare costs – but after a period of real difficulty and the worst standard of living since the Second World War, is this enough?

Leading charity Debt Free Advice have seen a 50% percent rise in those seeking help compared to this time last year. And having just completed a free advice bus tour of the capital, they’ve confirmed that gas and electricity bill debt are the biggest problem areas for the UK right now – with a 47% and 44% increase respectively.

Debt Free Advice – a partnership of charities funded by the Money and Pension Service – are campaigning for us all to get support when we need it and to not face debt alone. Free, expert help is available, and we should use it if we find ourselves in the red.

Aston spoke to Matt Dronfield from Debt Free Advice.
