Listen: Dr Dawn Harper warns about the symptoms of abdominal & urological cancer

NHS England has launched a new campaign urging the public to be aware of abdominal and urological cancer symptoms, as new research reveals a worrying lack of awareness.

Despite being signs of cancer, only half of us (48%) would contact a GP if we had tummy trouble, such as discomfort or diarrhoea for three weeks or more, while more than a third (37%) say they would put off going to see the GP for symptoms such as tummy troubles or blood in pee, because they wanted to be sure it was serious before contacting them.

In fact, a little more than half (55%) don’t recognise that blood in your pee, even just once, is a symptom and only 46% of us would contact their GP if they had unexplained weight loss.

Aston spoke to TV’s Dr Dawn Harper.
