Listen: English Wine Week

25th June 2021
Posted by Aston Avery

It’s English Wine week, and new research has revealed that many so-called wine aficionados don’t know as much about wine as they make out!

More than a quarter of Brits (26%) claim to know good wine from bad but 5% pretend to have a vast knowledge of wine and still deliberately buy expensive bottles just to impress people. Similarly, where wine comes from rarely affects its quality – this usually depends on the method used to ferment it – yet 17% are still buying wine from certain destinations because they believe the quality is better.

One type of wine that rarely gets the love it deserves is English wine. English wine offers a unique taste rarely found in other regions, but just 12% of Brits say it is their preferred choice and a shocking 6% that they would rather not drink wine at all than buy English!
