Listen: how to prevent dental decay & unexpected diseases

During National Smile Month, new research reveals a quarter of people admit to only brushing their teeth once a day. Over a third (35%) experience sensitive teeth and 31% currently suffer from bleeding gums.

36% of people admit they don’t go to the dentist due to anxiety and fear around the procedures they will need to endure. 11% cited guilt and shame around their oral health as the main reason they wouldn’t make an appointment.

Taking this new research into account, the Oral Health Foundation is committed to raising awareness of the ways in which people can prevent oral diseases such gum disease and tooth decay, two of the most common chronic conditions in the UK, from impacting their daily lives.

Aston spoke to Miranda Steeples, president of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy.
