Listen: No legacy should be left behind

Ahead of Remembrance Day (11th November), Ancestry® is encouraging people to seek out their ancestors wartime stories.

New research has revealed 70% of adults want to discover more wartime stories in their family’s history, with 45% believing doing so will help to create a lasting legacy. The study of 2,000 British adults also found that of the stories we do know, more than half (55%) are unaware of the role their ancestors played in war.

Whilst, of the records people are most interested in discovering on their ancestor’s wartime legacy, 41% are keen to locate photos followed by personal letters (31%), war diaries (30%) and military service records (22%).
