Listen: summer holiday nostalgia

With the school summer holidays almost here, it’s time to start planning (if you haven’t already) that family staycation to enjoy some fun-filled days no matter what the Great British weather throws at us.

In fact, despite the wet spell we’ve been having, this is set to be the summer of the staycation, with 53% of us planning one or more breaks in the UK this year, according to new research by Hoseasons.

While many enjoy a holiday abroad, a quarter (23%) admit it is too expensive, 15% think it requires more planning than staycations and  about one in seven (14%) say it is difficult to find a suitable destination and accommodation for everyone… and anyway 1 in 10 love the nostalgia of a UK staycation to relive childhood memories and having to only travel a short distance is the top reason (29%) for holidaying in the UK.
