Listen: Talk Money Week
They say money “makes the world go round” but when it comes to teaching their children about it, a third of parents (31%) hold back from teaching their kids about this important life lesson.
That’s according to new research which surveyed over 3,000 parents and found less than half (46%) talk openly with their kids about money, meaning millions of children could be missing out on the vital early stages of building a good relationship with future finances according to MoneyHelper.
Now, at the beginning of Talk Money Week (8-12 November), an annual awareness campaign coordinated by the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), which runs MoneyHelper, is encouraging everyone to talk about finances and open up to their children about why learning about money is so important to their future.
Aston spoke to Sarah Porretta, children and money expert at Money & Pensions Service.
