Listen: Unblocktober

October is ‘Unblocktober’, a chance to make small changes to save our sewers and seas. For decades we have been pouring, flushing and stuffing all manner of things down our drains, from fat, oil, grease and wet wipes, to period products, cotton buds and condoms, we are all guilty of putting things down there we shouldn’t.

This has however led to the creation of huge fatbergs that block drains and sewers, causing them to work less effectively and sadly, the problem has got much worse since the COVID-19 pandemic as many people’s recycling habits fall by the wayside.

A recent study by Water UK found there are approximately 300,000 sewer blockages annually, costing the country £100m.

So, Unblocktober is a chance for us all to educate ourselves, and when it comes to unblocking drains, there is no one quite like the market leader Dyno-Rod.
