Listen: water safety amidst rising temperatures

As temperatures across the UK soar, the National Water Safety Forum has issued an urgent warning to remain safe and heed water safety advice.

This comes as the Forum also releases alarming research which confirms that accidental drowning deaths almost always rise when hot weather hits the UK.

Two independent studies – one by Bournemouth University and the other by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) – both conclude that significantly more people lose their lives to accidental drowning in the UK during periods of hot weather.

Aston spoke to Dawn Whittaker, chief fire officer & CEO of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service and chair of National Water Safety Forum.
