Listen: why Brits are shirking key hygiene habits
We all love a good shortcut, but a new study has revealed that many of us might be cutting a few too many corners when it comes to daily habits, including our personal care routines.
Millions of people in the UK admit they cut corners in everyday tasks – with domestic cleaning chores the most likely to be left ‘half done’. 27% of people say they feel guilty when they cut corners, while a further 32% admit they end up having to re-do the task anyway.
67% of people admit they regularly only complete part of a task before moving on to something else – such as putting away groceries, doing the dishes and personal grooming. Flossing, filing documents and making the bed are other tasks that people rush through.
The study, carried out by oral care brand TePe, revealed that of those who cut corners, 36% do so because they run out of time, while 29% admit to not finishing tasks properly due to prioritising other things.
Aston spoke to consultant clinical psychologist Dr Venetia Leonidaki and Miranda Pascucci, dental therapist & head of clinical education at TePe.
