Listen: why unrestrained dogs in cars could be deadly
If you brake suddenly at 30mph, a 20kg dog becomes a 600kg projectile. It slams into the windscreen, the dashboard, or the back of your neck. It can kill your pet. It can kill you. And it’s happening every single day.
New research from pet safety brand Tavo reveals a dangerous epidemic on British roads – with more than half of pet owners putting animals in the car with no restraint at all. They let them sit on a lap. Stand on the front seats. Climb the windows. It looks cute. It feels loving. But it’s illegal. And it’s lethal.
44% of people admit they’ve let their pets ride on a lap in the car. That includes 70% of 25 to 34-year-olds have risked their pets’ lives – often without knowing it.
