Louise Redknapp on family harmony

The concept of a world without the internet seems hard to imagine. With TV shows to stream, music to download and social media to scroll, it can be easy to burn through data allowance in no time.  But it looks like connectivity has replaced the battle for the remote control as the number one threat to family harmony across the UK.

Given the amount of time people spend on smartphones, swiping on iPads or glued to their laptops, new research from EE reveals burning through data (44%) is seen as one of the main disrupters of harmony in the home amongst Brits.

In fact, when it comes to maintaining family harmony, failing to do chores (37%), lagging WiFi connectivity (29%) and poor personal hygiene (18%) can also disturb the peace – highlighting the importance of working around the family angst and improving household ambiance.

However, the research suggests the mood can easily turn south with two in three (67%) parents claiming their teens become grumpy if their data runs dry. In a bid to keep the peace, 43% of families have agreed to share data with each other to avoid disagreements in the home.
