Martin Roberts on unexpected repairs

More than half (54%) of UK homeowners could have a future gas boiler claim rejected, because they’ve underestimated their home insurance emergency cover policies, as well as boiler warranties.

The new research from Gas Safe Register – the UK’s official registration body for gas engineers and gas businesses – shows that 1 in 5 (21%) homeowners wouldn’t be able to afford more than £1000 for any kind of emergency home repair, without relying on a loan or help from others.

This figure rises to more than a third (36%) of homeowners that couldn’t afford to pay more than £2,000 on any given emergency repair.
