MasterChef’s Dean Edwards on landing the perfect flip this Pancake Day

From first pour to final flip, Pancake Day is one of the nation’s most joyfully anticipated food moments and new research shows just how seriously Brits take getting their pancakes right.

Figures show pancakes remain a much-loved classic, with nearly two thirds of people (63%) describing them as one of the most versatile dishes. When it comes to preferences, simplicity wins out as most people opt for sweet pancakes, with thin, foldable crêpe-style pancakes edging out thicker stacks as the nation’s favourite.

MasterChef finalist Dean Edwards, the perfect pancake comes down to a few fundamentals including good ingredients, the right pan, and not overthinking the dreaded flip.

Almost six in ten aren’t confident in their pancake flipping ability (57%), with research by Maple from Canada UK showing half (50%) believe they need to up their pancake cooking game.
