Millions of Brits now have their own home bar

Research shows there are now more than 15 million ‘home bars’ in properties across the UK.

The analysis by Clink reveals how 2.5 million of these feature ‘proper’ bar areas, with a fifth (19%) of their domestic ‘landlords’ going as far as creating logos and signs for them.

Many Britons may have had their first glimpse of at-home bars in Del Boy’s Only Fools and Horses flat in the 1980s, but the dream of becoming an ‘amateur landlord’ hasn’t abated 40 years on.

With pubs and bars shutting, it seems the lockdowns led to home lock-ins reigniting the trend, as 2.7 million home bars were constructed since March 2020.
