Millions of workers considering changing roles this year

New figures reveal that despite economic uncertainty and global hiring slowing down, we are seeing a huge number of UK professionals (60%) looking to move jobs in 2023, many driven by the desire for bigger salaries as the cost-of-living soars.

British professionals have built up a bank of resilience since the pandemic and we’re seeing this in their confidence to tackle the year ahead, with half saying they are confident in securing a new role (50%) and 90% confident in their current role.

Professionals understand their value in a tight labour market and demand for higher salaries remains the biggest motivator for employees wanting to leave a current role (36%) and an increase in salary is the biggest factor (42%) that would influence them to stay. The new data from LinkedIn reveals there may be some challenging conversations this year as nearly two thirds (63%) of UK bosses have said they are not offering a pay rise to help with the rising cost of living.

Aston spoke to Charlotte Davies, careers expert from LinkedIn.
