Motorsport Update – 10th August

For the first time since March, I was back in the studio to present a live update and there was a lot to talk about. F1 held the 70th Anniversary GP behind closed doors at Silverstone due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the race was thrilling.

On this week’s F1 Report:

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the 70th Anniverary GP after executing a fantastic two stop strategy after starting the race on the C2 hard tyre. The two Silver Arrows of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas completed the podium as Mercedes struggled with excessive blistering on their tyre stints during the very warm and humid track conditions.

Here are some highlights from the 70th Anniversary GP:

1. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel spun off on Lap 1 after pushing too hard on the exit of Abbey. Vettel eventually finishing P11 ending a forgettable day for the German racing driver.
2. Red Bull’s Alex Albon finished P5 after overtaking a few drivers at Copse.
3. Red Bull’s Max Vertsappen overtook Vatteri Bottas around the outside at luffield shortly after making his second pit stop. He went on from there to win the race.

• 10th: Daniil Kvyat (Alfa Tauri)
