Mums are our go-to person

Dad, partners and friends play their part, but when it comes to seeking advice, Mum is the obvious choice for most of us, especially when the problem is health-related.

According to research published today, we’ll ask for help and advice over 6-thousand times in our lifetime. And we’ll turn to an average of 31 people to do this.

  • Dad’s considered good for moving house and finance.
  • Careers and technology are covered off by partners.
  • But it’s mum we want for health and parenting tips.

The study, commissioned by Olbas, says:

  • One in three people (35%) find their mum the most helpful, compared to just
  • One in ten (13%) who chose dad.
  • A quarter admitted, no matter how old they are,  their mother will always be their “go-to” in life.

Aston spoke to Dr Angharad Rudkin, child clinical psychologist to discuss the research in further detail.
