Nations most memorable radio moments revealed – World Radio Day
“Video killed the radio star,” sang The Buggles in 1979. Nearly half a century on, radio is very much alive and thriving.
New research shows 100% of Brits still listen to the radio, with almost half (47%) tuning in all the time. That loyalty is reflected in the latest RAJAR figures, which reveal 86% of the UK listens to live radio every week, with both BBC and commercial audiences on the rise.
It’s no wonder two in five Brits (41%) admit they’ve cried while listening, according to research by PURE, whether during emotional goodbyes, powerful stories or unforgettable song requests.
Aston spoke to Jack Corbett, radio expert and head of network at Student Radio Association.
