Neurodiversity Celebration Week – Essex’s learning and employability support
At ACL Essex, is proud to support Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a time dedicated to embracing and celebrating the diverse ways our brains work.
Sharron Howard, Curriculum Lead at ACL Essex, captures the essence of neurodiversity with her inspiring words.
“We’re all physically different, so why can’t we be neurologically different?”
She asks. This simple yet profound question encourages us to embrace the unique ways our brains function and to celebrate these differences.
Neurodiversity refers to the concept that neurological differences, such as Dyslexia, DCD (Dyspraxia), Dyscalculia, Autism, and ADHD, are natural variations of the human brain. Approximately 15-20% of the population has a neurological difference. Instead of viewing these differences as deficits or disorders, we take a balanced view of an individual’s unique strengths and challenges.
Aston spoke to Cllr Tony Ball from Essex County Council.
