New campaign highlights the disparity of choice in NHS healthcare

With a significant variation in waiting times across the UK, patients are now willing to travel out of the East of England for faster NHS treatment. This is according to new research.

In fact, 773,356 people are currently on a waiting list for hospital treatment in the East of England and 307,651 (39.8%) have waited for over 18 weeks since being referred.

However, the research, commissioned by comparison site Health Compare reveals that most don’t know how to choose or change hospitals to reduce the wait.

Aston spoke to GP Dr Arun Ghosh and Andrew Burgess, founder of Health Compare.
