New report show parents care more about child mental health than exam grades

As children return to school after the Easter break, new research reveals a sharp rise in anxiety among pupils, with almost half (48%) of secondary school children feeling anxious about school a few times a week.

The findings point to a growing shift in parenting priorities, with most parents now placing their child’s mental wellbeing above academic achievement. However, nearly one in five (19%) parents admit they are unsure which school pressures have the biggest impact on their child, limiting their ability to support their child.

The findings highlight the growing strain on modern families. Over two-thirds (68%) of parents say parenting today comes with more stress points than previous generations, while 4 in 10 find supporting their child’s mental wellbeing stressful.
