New survey reveals American fever has caught us during World Cup Summer
With the World Cup knockout stages underway across America, and the country’s 250th birthday
celebrations around the corner, new research from Buffalo Trace Distillery has shown that these big US
events are making Brits look again at American whisky and traditions.
More than 1 in 3 Brits (38%) say they’ve become more interested in American food, drink and culture
since the tournament began, while a further 26% said they were already fans of American traditions
before kick-off, highlighting a sustained and growing appetite for all things Americana with staples like
hot dogs, burgers and craft sodas.
1 in 6 Brits are swapping traditional European spirits for American bourbon and nearly a quarter say
they’d now choose an American barbecue over a traditional British one.
Aston spoke to whiskey expert Liam Sparks.
