Parents fears over first phone milestone

Many parents will recently have found themselves navigating an important milestone in their child’s life – the first mobile phone. While the most important considerations for the child are often make, colour and brand of phone, for parents the greater concerns lie in the new world, and dangers potential dangers, a mobile phone has the potential to introduce a child to.

A new report released today by EE, to coincide with the launch of Phonesmart, highlights these concerns with many focusing on issues surrounding inappropriate content, bullying and even fake news.

For many parents the thought of their child having a mobile is a more daunting milestone than the first day at school or even their child bringing home a boyfriend or girlfriend for the first time, leading more than two thirds of parents (69%) to believe it’s okay to check their child’s phone while they are asleep.
