Quentin Willson on the big switch to electric cars in the UK

It’s a year since the UK Government ended its new EV grant that aimed to encourage more drivers to switch to electric vehicles. That’s despite similar incentives operating in 21 European countries today.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has since downgraded its expectations for new EV car sales in the UK.

Fiat UK has now become the first car manufacturer to launch its own electric car grant. At £3,000, the E-Grant doubles the £1,500 offered by the UK Government scheme at its close last year (14th June).
