Rob Green on the greener game
Grassroots football clubs in England are facing the challenge of tackling rising operational costs, including their energy bills.
Over a third (38%) of people actively engage with their local teams and almost one in five (18%) say they’re a fan – but new research shows two in five (41%) people think grassroots clubs need help to cut their bills.
As many as three in five (59%) also believe the upkeep of clubhouses is a critical factor for the teams’ long-term success.
The Greener Game, launched by The Football Association and E.ON Next, has already seen four pilot clubs reduce their energy consumption by up to a quarter.
Aston spoke to former England goalkeeper Rob Green and Scott Somerville, director of external affairs at E.ON UK.
