Sheree Murphy on phoning home

After families have been locked up together for over 18 months, it’s surprising that most British parents (94%) are not quite ready for the months of peace and quiet ahead with their kids now heading off to university, admitting they are expecting daily calls (32%), weekly check-ins (31%) or contact three-five times a week (21%) while they’re away.

Nearly half (47%) of parents reveal they are starting to fret about having an empty nest, once their child heads out into the big wide university world, with 41% stating that they would like their kids to contact home more frequently, according to new research by Sky Mobile.

While 89% of students admit to wanting to contact home at least weekly, being too busy with coursework (46%), not having any updates (23%) and socialising with friends (22%) are amongst the top excuses for children not checking-in.

Aston spoke to former Emmerdale actress, presenter and series 5 runner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Sheree Murphy.
