Smiley Charity Film Awards 2023

UK charity work changes the lives of millions of individuals and organisations at home and abroad.

In the wake of the ongoing cost of living crisis at home, the war in Ukraine and most recently the earthquake in Turkey, the tireless work of these charities large and small and how they manage to overcome adversity needs amplifying.

The Smiley Charity Film Awards, now in its 6th year, have officially announced this year’s shortlist of powerful cause-based films.

The annual awards, recognised by IMDb and BFI, give a platform for worthy charity causes from both the UK and around the globe to get heightened recognition to support their cause and objectives. Last year, an additional 3.5 million views were generated across the films that entered, with even more exposure anticipated this year.

Aston spoke to Simon Burton, co-founder of the Smiley Charity Film Awards.
