Southend worker up for Tourism Superstar award
Today marks the start of English Tourism Week, the annual week dedicated to celebrating England’s vibrant tourism industry and emphasising the importance of tourism to communities across the country.
English tourism supports 200,000 small businesses, employs 2.6 million people and generates about £71.6 billion annually for the economy in domestic visitor spending.
Running from Friday 14th until Sunday 23rd March, this year’s campaign message “Supporting people and places to drive growth” celebrates the people, places, businesses, attractions, experiences and destinations at the heart of England’s tourism sector.
VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar competition, the annual competition that spotlights the incredible contributions of individuals around the country, will also conclude during the week. Voting is currently open and will stay open until midnight on the 23rd March, with the winner announced at the end of English Tourism Week on the 24th.
Aston spoke to Max Sadgrove, rides team manager at Adventure Island in Southend.
