Summer showers and BBQ powers
If you’ve had a look out of your windows recently, you’ll know the summer hasn’t really… arrived. According to the Met Office, we’re in for a summer that’s set to break records for rain, grey skies, and generally grim weather. Nearly six weeks’ worth of rain is expected to drench the UK in just three months between June and August. But don’t let the looming clouds and puddles dampen your spirits, because BBQ season is far from cancelled!
Brits are showing their true grit with 27% admitting they’ve barbecued in the rain. It seems nothing can put a damper on the nation’s love for grilling. Women in Basildon and East Thurrock are slightly more adventurous than the men in Basildon and East Thurrock, with 28% versus 26% willing to barbecue under wet conditions.
Barbecuing isn’t just a cost-effective choice; it also offers significant mental health benefits. Spending time outdoors has been shown to reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing. A University of Oxford study found that communal eating boosts happiness and satisfaction with life. So, what better excuse to gather family and friends for a BBQ, rain or shine?
Aston spoke to Caroline Morris, BBQ expert at Bar-Be-Quick.
