Tackling the stigmas surrounding single parents dating

Dating in the modern age can be complicated at the best of times, add children into the mix and it’s a whole other level to navigate. Trying to find love as a single parent is trickier than a few quick swipes, and when it comes to disclosing whether they have kids on their dating profiles, parents are divided, according to new figures.

New research from dating app Even has revealed that one in six (16%) single Brits would not be open to dating a single parent due to certain stigmas that they believe they have attached to them.

Over a quarter (27%) said that this is because they always assume single parents have a complicated or messy situation with an ex-partner. Whether that’s because they feel like it would bring too much drama or they don’t want a third-party hovering over their relationship, before even going on the first date, the assumption has already been made.

Aston spoke to dating expert Sarah Louise Ryan and Marion Graff from Even.
