The Big Smile Tea Party

Drinking tea is a national pastime. And like many great traditions, Britons have been locked in fierce debates for years when it comes to appropriate tea etiquette.  Now, new research explores where Brits stand on the correct way to make a good cuppa tea.

New research by cleft charity Smile Train UK – to mark the launch of their flagship fundraising campaign Big Smile Tea Party – reveals that 43% of Brits are making their tea wrong. Indeed, the majority (57%) argue the correct way to make the perfect cuppa is: tea bag > hot water > milk, while 12% say it is; hot water > tea bag > milk.

Aston spoke to tea specialist Jane Pettigrew and Ian Vallance, director of Smile Train UK.
