‘The GC’ Gemma Collins & Iona Bain back new pensions campaign
A recent study has unveiled that we are more focused on combating the physical signs of ageing than on securing our financial futures, with a staggering 57% of the population purchasing anti-ageing products in the last 12 months. In contrast, only 23% of us have organised our finances for later life, highlighting a significant gap in pension awareness and preparation.
This new research, conducted by the Pension Attention campaign, reveals a concerning trend: UK adults are over four times more likely to invest in products like wrinkle creams, grey hair treatments, and collagen tablets than to increase their pension contributions. Just 13% of people have taken steps to boost their pension contributions in the past year.
The research also highlights that only 30% of UK adults have thought about how they will afford retirement. Alarmingly, only 19% of us feel confident that they’ll be able to maintain their current lifestyle in retirement. This lack of confidence is particularly concerning among those aged 35 to 44, where only 13% believe they will afford their retirement lifestyle.
