The gift of a supportive voice this Christmas
For many people Christmas is to be enjoyed, spending time with family and friends. However, for families experiencing dying, death, or bereavement, the festive period can often feel like an overwhelming and anxious time.
To help people who may be struggling and need support, a close-knit and inspirational team of individuals from Marie Curie – the UK’s leading end of life charity – are giving up their Christmas to ensure all those who seek help through the charity’s free Support Line, have a friendly voice to speak to.
The Marie Curie Support Line is run by a specially trained team who are on-hand to offer practical and emotional support on everything from symptom management and day-to-day care to financial information and bereavement support. Marie Curie is here to help, even if people just need someone to listen.
The support on offer is available throughout the festive period, including Christmas Day, and is available in over 200 languages to ensure everyone who needs support can access the help and advice they need.
Aston spoke to Angharad Burden, Marie Curie Support Line and peer support service manager.
