The nation wants crafting to support mental wellbeing

The nation is in favour of healthcare experts more widely recommending structured arts and craft activities to support people currently experiencing mental health challenges or loneliness.

And today a major survey of nearly 6,000 UK individuals has revealed that 8.8m Britons already use creative activity to improve their mood.

The survey, undertaken by Hobbycraft, the UK’s largest arts and craft retailer, and supported by mental health charity, Mind, shows 72% of the nation are in favour of healthcare experts recommending structured arts and craft activities.

Hobbycraft is launching in-store Mindful Mondays – offering crafters a free and welcoming space to come and craft, make friends and feel part of their community. These will be free to attend and launch in September in selected stores.

Aston spoke to Rosie Weatherley from Mind and Vicky Boyns, online workshops & artisan manager at Hobbycraft.
